Broken Dolls & New Dolls

So much has happened since my last post. Sadly, my Hitty doll broke. I was taking her outside to take some new pictures of her when all of the sudden I look down and her dress was falling off. When I started looking at her to figure out why her dress wouldn't stay on, I figured out that the elastic in her arms had broke in half causing her arms to fall off. Poor Hitty! Until I can find the correct size of elastic to fix her, she is stuck sitting on a shelf. I was surprised at how sad I was. I had gotten used to taking her everywhere so it was weird to not have her with me any more.

In steps Raggedy Ann and the problem was solved. This adorable little Raggedy Ann doll was given to me to be a replacement doll to take places until Hitty is fixed. At only eight inches tall, she is the perfect size to carry around. And because she is so soft she is easy to take places. And I have always been a huge fan of Raggedy Ann.. which makes her that much more fun.

And if Raggedy Ann wasn't enough excitement... a couple days later I was given another doll as a gift. A wonderful Madame Alexander Sweet Nursery Baby Doll. She is the most adorable doll ever! I love her cute face and she is so soft and squishy... I want to cuddle with her all the time. I named her Tuesday because she came from the store Tuesday Morning. She is so much fun and I can't get over how much I love her already!

Fall

A couple of new pictures of Hitty since its finally starting to look like fall.

Bitty Love

I just got a wonderful new homemade dress for my Bitty Baby so I figured I would do a post all about her today.

A couple of years ago, when I first got back into collecting dolls, I purchased a Bitty Baby off of ebay. She had light skin and brown hair. Her head was all scuffed up and she had big white marks across her head. Back then I was so concerned with making sure my dolls looked perfect, so I sent her to the doll hospital for a new head and after that she did nothing but sit on a shelf, looking pretty. After about a year I decided that having a Bitty Baby was kinda boring... plus I felt bad for her and I sold her online.

Several months after selling my Bitty Baby I was searching ebay for American Girl clothes and other items and I stumbled upon some really cute baby outfits. The more I thought about it, the more I began to regret selling my Bitty Baby. I spent a long time considering it and finally decided to buy a new doll. I originally wanted to buy a brand new Bitty Baby from American Girl but then decided to buy a used one. I didn't want to risk having to worry about her looking perfect all the time like I did with the last one. I spent several weeks searching ebay and eventually found a medium skin, dark haired Bitty Baby that came with an older version of the starter kit... all for a really great price. I was surprised at how great she looked when she arrived. She only had a few, hardly noticeable rub marks on her head. And the clothes that she came with are so adorable!

I named her Marissa after the book Saving Marissa (from the Doll Hospital series). She is by far my most spoiled doll. She has WAY more clothes than the rest of my dolls combined. I am always finding cute outfits for her. She is so much fun to cuddle with because she is so soft and she has gotten more travel time than all of my other dolls, other than Hitty (although if I could find a way to fit Marissa in my purse like I do with Hitty... without looking like a weirdo, I would probably take Marissa everywhere like I do with Hitty). I definitely treat her a lot different than I did my last Bitty Baby. I'm not afraid to mess her up... which has made her so much fun. She doesn't look brand new... she does have a few marks on her now... but she is well loved so I'm sure she doesn't mind.

My Cuddleuppet bear wanted to get in the picture too.

Traveling in Style... Sorta

I am obsessed with my Hitty doll. I love taking her everywhere.. around the house, shopping, even when I take my dog for a walk. But I don't always have a free hand to hold her. I was feeling extra crafty so I decided to make a dolly purse with some extra fabric I had. Its nothing fancy and I hand sewed the whole thing so it not perfect looking but it sure does make taking Hitty places easier.

The picture is not the best because I hung the purse from a tree branch.

OG

I love the Our Generation brand! I know a lot of people consider it to be just a cheap version of American Girl but not me. I love the dolls, I love the clothes, I love the big pieces of furniture, and I really love the price. I think the quality of OG items is great, especially for the price. I love being able to walk down the doll aisle and buy something spur of the moment, just because I happen to see it and love it. As much as I love American Girl, I usually don't have enough spare change sitting around the buy something from them without planning and saving ahead of time (not to mention that there isn't even an AG store in my state). But I shop at Target all the time and they always have OG stuff on sale. And I recently discovered that the store Tuesday Morning sells OG stuff at a large discount! Right now I only have a blond OG doll, the salon chair, and a couple of outfits. But I've developed a rather large wish list. Here are some of the things that I think are neat:

Kitchen:

Jeep:

Brunette Doll:

Landry Set:

Sewing Set:

They also just came out with a camper that I want so bad!!! I saw a picture of it online the other day but they don't have it on the website yet and I didn't want to post the picture that I saw because its one that someone took of the camper at Target... and I don't want to steal someone else's picture.

Anyways... I got a new OG outfit and thats what started this whole post about how cool OG is. I love finding OG outfits on sale. What I love even more is when someone else finds OG stuff on sale and buys it for me without me even knowing about it ahead of time. Who doesn't love getting surprise doll gifts? Here is the new outfit that I got... an adorable pajama set that looks great on Nadine.

New Hitty Book

My new Hitty book finally came. I am almost finished reading it. I love it just as much as the original. This version was written for kids so it is much shorter but it is still very fascinating. The illustrations are amazing. Some of the story has been changed so there are some new characters too. Here are some pictures from the book:

Hitty Pictures

Today was the first nice day since my wonderful Hitty doll arrived so I finally got the chance to go outside with her and take some pictures. I am obsessed with this doll! She is so adorable and so little... which makes it easy to pose her any place for pictures. She looks so cute every where that I put her. As I type this she is sitting on the back of the couch watching tv.
